Ethics in action

24 de julho de 2014AHOY

Is it possible to teach ethical behavior? Apparently, this is an existing and legitimate suggestion. Now let’s try it! With Ethics Unwrapped University of Texas makes an attempt to teach such basic ethics for students that are useful when coping with the challenges of the business world. Certainly, economic crises of previous years pinpoint how crucial it would be to live up to ethical standards in the business sphere. Had it been for conforming to basic ethic norms, the whole American credit crisis could’ve been prevented.

36 short videos in 3 series show basic ethical concepts, situations and dilemmas that everyone has to face in the world of work. We can learn about these norms and consequences of violating these rules through watching actual situations. Along with the 13 chapters we can also find a case study. Jack Abramoff used to be the most successful lobbyist in Washington up until 2006 when he was convicted of fraud and bribery. His story proves conclusively that proper ethical behavior is essential.

The site can be exploited when teaching ethics. Besides, it comes in handy on higher levels of English as it might trigger intriguing conversations.
