Medieval Royal Palace (Visegrád, Hungary, 15th century)
The magnificent palace was commissioned by Charles I of Hungary, it got its final shape during the reign of King Matthias Corvinus.

South-eastern wing, palace chapel
The entrance of the new, single-nave palace chapel was located opposite the Gate Tower. A flight of stairs led to the terrace, which was often the venue of royal feasts and of the reception of prestigious guests. The magnificence of the exterior of the Gothic palace was completed by the colorful roof tiles.
The North-eastern wing was the actual center of the palace, which contained the royal apartments. The palace consisted of two stories, the lower contained the servants´quarters while the Queen´s and King´s winter apartments were on the 2nd floor. There was an ornamental courtyard in the building, later remodeled during the reign of King Matthias I. There was a Gothic cloister on the bottom floor, while the top floor featured a Renaissance balcony. In the center stood the masterwork of Giovanni Dalmata, King Matthias´architect, the Renassisance Hercules fountain.
The second wife of Matthias Corvinus, King of Hungary, was Beatrice of Aragon.
